Cultivate an Awe of God in Your Family

I remember the excitement of visiting Savannah, Georgia with my family. It was a trip filled with new experiences, especially our visit to Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room. Unlike typical restaurants where you agonize over a menu, Mrs. Wilkes' simply serves you a variety of delicious dishes right on the table. It was a feast unlike any other, where every bowl held something delightful, from BBQ to sweet potatoes to fried chicken.

In that bustling dining room, I found myself fixated on just a few dishes initially. They were so good that I kept going back for more, missing out on the other offerings. It struck me later that I might have overlooked some of the best dishes simply because I didn't venture beyond my favorites.

Similarly, life often presents us with opportunities and experiences that we may hesitate to explore fully. The Bible speaks about the greatness of God and the blessings He offers to those who seek Him wholeheartedly.

God is unlike anyone else in your life.

In Exodus 15:11, it says, “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” Parents play a crucial role in leading their families to understand and appreciate the uniqueness of God. In Exodus 15:11, the scripture asks, “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” This verse serves as a powerful reminder to families that God stands alone in His greatness, holiness, and the miraculous works He accomplishes. As parents, we have the privilege and responsibility to teach our children that there is no one like our God. He is unmatched in His attributes and unmatched in His love for us. By instilling this truth in our families, we help them grow in reverence and awe of God, guiding them to recognize His sovereignty and trust in His unfailing goodness.

Our Families are Called to be in Awe of God

Psalm 33:8 says, "Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him!" It calls for all the earth to fear the Lord and stand in awe of Him. This awe-inspiring reverence captures the essence of recognizing God's presence and power in our lives. arents have a vital role in cultivating a sense of awe and reverence for God within their families. This verse underscores the universal call for all people to recognize and honor God with profound respect and admiration. As parents, we can model this awe in our own lives and guide our children to see the majesty of God in creation, in His Word, and in His works. By nurturing a deep appreciation for God's power, goodness, and sovereignty, we encourage our families to approach Him with humility and gratitude, fostering a faith that is rooted in reverence and awe. Just as I hesitated to try all the dishes at Mrs. Wilkes', we sometimes hesitate to fully embrace who God is and how filled we awe we should be in having the privilege of being given the honor to know Him more. That is a miracle in itself. Our families have been given an incredible gift that we shouldn’t miss out on.

The Unshakable Kingdom for Your Family

Parents play a crucial role in guiding their families to embrace gratitude for the gift of salvation. Hebrews 12:28 exhorts believers, "Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe." This verse reminds us of the unshakeable kingdom we inherit through faith in Christ, and it calls us to respond with hearts full of gratitude. As parents, we can teach our children to appreciate the immense privilege of belonging to God's eternal kingdom, secured through His grace and love. By emphasizing the significance of salvation in our daily lives and encouraging heartfelt worship that honors God with reverence and awe, we help our families grow in a deep, lasting appreciation for the blessings of redemption and eternal life. Lets be grateful for the kingdom we receive through Jesus Christ, a kingdom that cannot be shaken. It urges us to offer acceptable worship with reverence and awe. This verse teaches our families the importance of approaching God with thankfulness and praise for not just what He has done for us but mainly for who He is. Embrace Him fully as He has fully embraced you.

Let's not miss out on leading our families to not miss out on any part of God. Jesus has immeasurable love for your family. Jesus has limitless grace for your family. Jesus has much joy for your family. He wants you and your family to know Him more. That is a miracle all by itself.
